The Beauty of $$CASH$$

My last post was all about the weekend but I felt this story deserved it's own post....

A significant portion of the weekend was spent in making investments - let me explain that - it's a simple concept - an item that increases the value or enhances the quality of it's subject and is bought at a price significantly lower than it's original price qualifies as an investment - so although a car depreciates in true value - if you got a mercedes for the price of a toyota - you are likely to grab it even though you already have 2 cars sitting in your garage. Same principle applies to good clothes and shoes. If the price is good and they make you look fabulous - doesn't matter if you had just left the house to buy milk and eggs...

Now - one of my dear friends who was visiting this weekend took this advice rather seriously - and made a liberal growth in her closet and a serious dent in her pocket. She then proceeded to freak out (I dont know the non-slang word for that...) that her husband was in turn going to freak out - so we calmed her down with 4 martinis on Sat night - she seemed to be handling it well until next afternoon when it was time to pack - because all her gathered assets would not fit into the backpack she had - and she could not walk in with a million shopping bags - she thought she would break it to the husband one item at a time - so she stuffed and she stuffed and finally after 40 minutes in the room she walked out huffing and puffing - all sweaty from jumping on her backpack a few times - and then left for the airport - it looked like she was carrying a potato sack on her back - she looked very comical - her husband then picks her up at the airport - after the initial kisses and welcomes - he then asks her how she liked shopping at 'Calypso' (that's where most of the damage was done!) - I wish I was there to see the shock on her face...

*He had decided to pay her credit card bill the previous day*

(on a different note - Christiane Celle rocks - definitely check out the store if you are ever in NY - http://www.calypso-celle.com/ )

I learnt a few things that day -

--I can crack up at other people's misery (because I was hysterical when she told me this)
--Never travel light - backpacks are not good for the return trip
--The beauty of cash trasactions - no paper trail
